Should university education be academically oriented or employment oriented？

With the gradual popularization of higher education, the number of college students with bachelor's degree is increasing day by day. At the same time, the number of college students without jobs is increasing year by year in the face of the social situation that artificial intelligence is replacing cheap labor on a large scale. On the other hand, the shortage of high-tech talents in enterprises has not been satisfied, resulting in the situation that the vacant jobs and talents are not matched, thus resurrecting the rhetoric about the orientation of university education.

In the face of such problems, my opinion is: to add some career planning and innovation and entrepreneurship courses to face the future employment problems of college students, but always adhere to the general direction of academic-oriented university education.

A career-oriented university education is one that follows the needs of today's society to learn the appropriate expertise. In passive learning, it is difficult for them to use their own power to influence others around them, and they are unlikely to be at the forefront of the times. An academically oriented university education, on the other hand, fosters the ability for lifelong learning, giving students a clear understanding of themselves and the ability to think independently. With such an education, college students can be convincingly qualified for any position and proficient in any discipline. With a clear understanding of how to turn their innovations into productivity, how to integrate into society, how to adapt to society, how to put themselves in the shoes of others, and how to serve society.

University is a non-profit public organization for the purpose of nurturing people, which promotes the development and progress of human beings and society, and advocates college students to realize their social values. University education teaches a way of learning and life and is a requirement of the school itself, which guides students to freely develop their personal potential, freely choose the direction of study, and contribute to the progress of society as much as they can. Although universities are closely related to society today, university education should always adhere to the educational philosophy of educating students and pursuing the truth in order to create more talents for society and the country.

Therefore, university education should always be academically oriented. The uniqueness of university education lies in independent thinking and free expression. Each person learns and thinks for his or her own development and that of society and the progress of humanity. At the same time, however, a purely academic university cannot be well connected to society. To sum up, in the unremitting pursuit of truth, the university education system needs to add some development courses that can help students' future employment, so as to alleviate the contradiction between talents and employment to a certain extent. Under the guidance of such education, it is believed that more college students will be able to further explore their strengths and potentials and contribute to the cause of social development and human progress in the future.
