Doing a whisky tasting in Seattle: what you need to know

Whisky tastings are a great way to explore different types of whisky and learn about their distinct flavors. However, if you're new to the world of whisky, tasting can be a bit daunting. Here's what you need to know before heading to a Seattle whisky tasting.

First, before you even start sipping, take a look at the colour of the whisky. This can give you some clues as to the flavour profiles you might expect. For example, lighter coloured whiskies tend to be more floral and have fruity notes, while darker whiskies are often richer and more full-bodied.

Next, give the whisky a good sniff. Again, this can help give you an idea of what flavours to expect. Common aromas in whisky include smoke, peat, vanilla, caramel and oak.

Now it's time for the tasting itself! Take a small sip of the whisky and let it sit on your tongue for a few seconds before swallowing. Pay attention to the different flavours that come through - is it sweet, salty, spicy or smoky?

Finally, finish with a little bit of water - this will help to open up the flavours even further. And that's it - you're now
