1. No large investment is required

2. Both can retain the mainland household registration

After obtaining Hong Kong and Macau status, applicants can choose not to cancel the mainland status, but to keep the mainland hukou.

3. Both can apply for SAR passport

Applicants who have ordinarily resided in Hong Kong for a continuous period of not less than 7 years can apply for Hong Kong permanent resident status and HKSAR passport. Hong Kong passport is visa-free to 171 regions or countries in the world, while Macau passport is visa-free to 130 regions or countries in the world.

4. Both can apply for the Joint Entrance Examination for Hong Kong, Macao, Taiwan and Overseas Chinese Students (JEE)

Hong Kong and Macao residents enjoy 15 years of free Chinese and English education in their localities, and high school graduates can enjoy the preferential policies of applying to famous mainland schools with low scores. If they pass the Joint Entrance Examination for Overseas Chinese Students (JEE), they can get low scores to enter 985 or 211 universities in the Mainland.

Difference between Macau talents and Hong Kong talents

1. There is a difference in the scope of development of talent management industry

In the first phase, Macau's talents will focus on the introduction of the "four emerging industries": health, modern finance, high-tech, culture and sports.

In Hong Kong, there is no specific industry restriction for talents. Hong Kong welcomes talents from all walks of life to build and develop in Hong Kong.

2. Differences in Visa Renewal

The application for Macao Elite Management will be approved only if the work performed by the applicant matches his/her qualifications and meets the requirements of the program.

The Hong Kong Talents Scheme has no specific requirements for applicants. Generally, as long as the applicant meets the regular residence, he/she can get the visa renewal, which is relatively more liberal.

3. Difference in vetting process

The Hong Kong Talents Scheme is developed by the Hong Kong Immigration Department and the Hong Kong Talents Selection Committee will certainly come to the management approval.

The Macau Talents Scheme is vetted by three departments: the Talents Admission and Assessment Board, the Talents Development Committee, the Public Security Police Station, and the Chief Executive's approval. Each candidate breaks the rhythm of the three levels, with each examiner having a different background, status and starting point.
